About This Role

The Field Technician (L2) is the backbone of every TLX deployment. You work independently on structured cabling and fiber optic installations inside live data centers, executing to specification without hand-holding — and you bring the next generation along with you by mentoring L1 trainees assigned to your crew.

This role is for technicians who have moved past the learning curve and are ready to own their work. You know the difference between single-mode and multi-mode fiber without looking it up. You've been in a live cage at 3 AM and kept your head. You document everything because you understand that in mission-critical environments, if it isn't written down, it didn't happen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute fiber optic and copper structured cabling installations independently to project specifications
  • Perform rack and stack operations, cable management, and labeling to TIA-606 standards
  • Conduct OTDR and OLTS testing; interpret results and resolve faults without supervision
  • Support QA/QC processes — complete accurate field documentation for all assigned work
  • Mentor assigned L1 Field Trainee Technicians; model safe work practices and professional standards
  • Coordinate with L3 Field Lead on daily task assignments and escalate issues promptly
  • Maintain tool accountability and contribute to site safety compliance
  • Adapt to changing project conditions in live, operational data center environments

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years data center, structured cabling, or field service experience
  • Fiber optic testing certification on OTDR and OLTS
  • Proficiency in structured cabling including Cat5e, Cat6/6A, single-mode, and multi-mode fiber
  • Experience in operational, live mission-critical data center environments
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
  • BICSI, CompTIA A+, Network+, or CCNA preferred
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs

What You Get

  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
  • Per diem and travel reimbursement for project deployments
  • Access to the Coalition peer-endorsement network — your reputation travels with you
  • Clear advancement pathway to L3 Field Lead
  • Exposure to hyperscaler or large-scale data center projects
  • Credential support for BICSI, CompTIA, and other industry certifications
